Barge Time

It's that time of the month, when a huge cargo barge comes into Kwajalein Atoll, unloads full Matson containers and picks up the empty ones. We wanted to go to Roi Namur this Saturday, but the whole trip was very ill planned, and since we din't make reservations at the airport, there weren't enough seats available on the airplane. So instead, I watched this barge being docked by two tug boats.
These Terexes are used to handle the containers, as well as other huge metal things, which are plentyful on this island. There's quite a variety of heavy machinery here used for cargo handling, construction, cleaning, discovering and blowing up ammo left from WWII. There's also army dogs that sniff people's bags at the airport in hopes of finding drugs and explosives.
